Analysis taken from  tajsmkis Synopsis  Leaving is set in Tanzania. It is a story of a woman  who raises her five children alone after the early death of her husband.After her  two elder daughters get married and the eldest son acquires a job,the mother focuses on the two younger ones, Aloo and the youngest (the narrator). Aloo is in his final year in school and the girl is in university.She pins all her hopes on them that they will have a better education.She sells their store and moves them to Upanga.The place is quieter and provides a better environment for them to study.The return of Mr Datoo, a former teacher inspires Aloo to think of furthering his education in America. Mother wanted to have a better future rather than work at the store. So one day, she closed the doors of the shop for good. Aloo, the youngest, was in his last year of school. He began to dream about going to America to further his studies. Aloo was very clever, perhaps the smartest one amongst the siblings. Aloo began writing to universities in America. Mother did not take his plan too seriously. Aloo was actually offered a place at our local university but they offered him to study agriculture. Aloo wanted to study medicine. Then one day, a fateful letter came for Aloo. The California Institute of Technology gave him a scholarship to study at their university. Aloo was over the moon. In Kid Playboy by Casey Motsisi we have the theme of appearance, loss, suffering, responsibility, trust, fear, selfishness and anger. Narrated in the first person by an unnamed narrator the reader realises after reading the story that Motsisi may be exploring the theme of loss. Several of the characters in the story have lost something. The narrator has lost his first love to Kid Playboy. The young woman with the baby at the wedding has loss the chance of rearing her child with a father (Kid Playboy) and Kid Playboy’s bride has lost the opportunity to live a happy life with Kid.
